Well let’s just start out by saying first that I hope everyone who survived the plane crash in San Francisco is going to be alright. I can only imagine what they have gone through and what their families are going through.
However, why am I so out of wack? Well today my baby was supposed to be coming home. It was looking alright up until last night when I noticed that her flight was delayed by 40 mins getting to Tokyo. I thought to myself that she will need to be rushing to catch her next flight to San Francisco. The flight to Tokyo being late however caused the next flight to San Francisco to be late as well. I was thinking to myself though, maybe they can make up the time in the air and once they get stateside everything would be alright.
That was not the case. Turns out that they spent so much time in customs that they missed their connecting flight to LAX. By the time I had traveled most of the way to LAX its when Julia called me up and told me the news about them missing their flight. She told me that they would get on a later flight and be in LAX by about 2:50pm. That wasn’t so bad. I’d be spending just a few more hours in L.A. than I had originally planned.
About 20 mins later she calls me and tells me that the airport is closed down. She said that there was fire on the runway. At that point I was thinking, ‘ok just a fire shouldn’t be too bad.’ Look it up on Google and reports about a plane crash are being posted by various news sources. Immediately I start to think that this isn’t going to be just some waiting around.
So on to why I’m so annoyed. At some point I started thinking to myself that I should just drive to San Francisco and pick her up. However, there were talks about them allowing flights out. I didn’t think they would but I was hopeful. Sadly, her instructor never got a connecting flight out and the rest of them were on a if it happens then it happens kind of basis. So instead, right now they are all in a car (sick out of their minds) driving to L.A. I could have done that a long time ago…. ugh.
Oh well, hotel room for the night it is. Peace out.
